Glen E. Mansfield, Jr.

Glen Edward “Eddie” Mansfield Jr. age 86, of Macon, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 7, 2026, at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, Missouri.
Born December 22, 1939, in Eureka, Illinois, he was the son of Glen E. and Mary Grace (Dyar) Mansfield. On December 11, 1960, he was united in marriage to Lois Binnion who preceded him in death on August 20, 2023.
Also preceding him in death are his parents; sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Ivan Clarkson; and special friend, Wanda Hall.
Surviving are two sons, Jim (Jessy) Mansfield of La Plata, Missouri and Brad Mansfield of Macon, Missouri; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Eddie and his family moved to the La Plata area in 1943. He was a graduate of La Plata High School and later graduated from Illinois State University.
Eddie undertook several years of entrepreneurial activities as an insurance broker, starting Mansfield’s Insurance Agency in La Plata with his father; involved with a residential building project; sold real estate; farmed and was a license fee agent for Missouri Department of Transportation. Additionally, Eddie and Lois opened the franchised La Plata Gambles Store which he enjoyed most of all. He was involved in community civic groups, enjoyed singing with church choirs, and was raised to the degree of Master Mason in La Plata Lodge No. 237. Eddie progressed through the masonic officer line to serve as Master of the Lodge for two years and later to serve for more than ten years as secretary. In 1983, they moved to Deleon, Texas.
After 21 years living in Texas, they moved to Macon, Missouri. Eddie’s livelihood activities for the next 10 years were real estate oriented. His last employment before retiring was as an appraiser for the Macon County Assessor’s Office.
Funeral services will be 3:00 pm Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm followed with a Masonic service at 2:45 pm at the funeral chapel.
