Carol Ann Cook age 80 of La Plata, Missouri passed away Saturday, September 19, 2026, peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Carol was born on May 14, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois and graduated from Edinburg HS in 1964. She then moved to Missouri in 1975 where she worked for Dr Harlo Donelson for almost 30 years before retiring to La Plata Missouri. She loved the La Plata Community and always felt like it was home.
Carol loved to read and watch the Hallmark channel often doing both at the same time. She also loved to sit outside and watch the hummingbirds. Carol knew no stranger and had a heart of gold. She always had a smile on her face and was a kind friend to many. She loved a lot of things but nothing like the love she had for her granddaughters. They were her light and whole world. There was nothing Meme wouldn’t do for the girls and no adventure she wasn’t up for. She will be missed beyond measure and heaven gained a true angel.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Ashley Vandike and husband Greg. Her beautiful granddaughters, Bailey Zumbehl Columbia, Missouri, Allie Howell La Plata, Missouri, Gracie Howell La Plata, Missouri and many other close friends she considered family.
Preceding her in death is her parents Maurice Kelley and Velma Blair Berroyer.
Visitation will be Friday, September 25, 2026 with the family receiving friends from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Funeral services will be 9 a.m.. Saturday, September 26, 2026 at the Catholic Newman Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
