Donnie Jay McHenry, 59, of La Plata, Missouri, unexpectedly passed away Thursday, April 24, 2025.

Born June 19, 1965 in Kirksville, Missouri, he was the son of Ronald and Wava (Hays) McHenry of LaPlata, who survives.

Also surviving, one daughter, Natalie Jean McHenry and grandson Alex of Milan, Missouri, along with siblings Robert McHenry of Holt Summit, Missouri, Trudy (Damon) Jacobs of Kirksville, Missouri, Denny (Carol) McHenry of Republic, Missouri, Crissy (Bryan) Bane and Steven (Lisa) McHenry of La Plata and several nieces and nephews.

Donnie was a 1983 graduate of LaPlata High School and spent his work career in carpentry with his father in McHenry Construction. He had a great hand and patience for concrete work. Donnie was fun-loving, hard-working and known for his heart of gold. He was a person of the outdoors. He loved casting a reel, gardening or planning his next deer season. Donnie was kind, loved his family and had a great sense of humor. He had a host of great friends that he cared for and they cared for him.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday, May 1, 2025 with visitation starting at 9:30 am at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Inurnment will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
