Lois June Mansfield, age 84 of Macon, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 20, 2023 at Samaritan Hospital in Macon, Missouri.

Born June 12, 1939 in Ellsworth, Illinois, she was the second child born to Wayne and Ruth (Sorrell) Binnion. Her older sister, Martha, brother, Larry, and younger sister, Naomi, completed the family. Lois graduated from Saybrook – Arrowsmith High School in 1957. After graduation, she worked as a PBX operator for a telephone company in Bloomington, Illinois.

While working she met Glen E. “Eddie” Mansfield, Jr. who attended Illinois State Normal University and worked at State Farm Insurance Home Office. They wed December 11, 1960 and moved to Eddie’s first teaching assignment in the Fairbury-Cropsey School District. They had sons James and Bradley while living in Illinois. As a stay-at-home mother, she nurtured the boys and managed the household as Eddie’s educator career continued in Missouri and again in Illinois.

In 1970, the family moved to La Plata, Missouri where they were involved with several enterprises until after their sons graduated from high school.

After the boys entered US military service, Lois and Eddie moved to Texas. As he traveled the Southwest with various jobs, Lois began a career as a cook. She served senior care facilities for twenty years before they choose Macon, Missouri as their place to retire.

Lois was a selfless loving help-mate to Eddie and loving mother/grandmother with a desire to serve those around her.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Martha (Binnion) Blount, brother-in-law, Donald Blount. Surviving are her husband, Eddie, son, Jim (Jessy) Mansfield, La Plata; son, Brad Mansfield, Macon; five grandchildren & four great grandchildren, brother, Larry W. Binnion (Diane), sister, Naomi (Binnion) Crow, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Inurnment will be in the La Plata Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Christian Church’s Scholarship Fund, Macon, Missouri or the American Cancer Society. They may be sent to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., La Plata, Missouri 63549.
