Cora Lea Voyles, age 72 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away July 21, 2023 in the comfort of her home surrounded by family.

Born August 13, 1950 in the Cardy community, west of La Plata, Missouri, she was the youngest daughter of Robert E. and Eva M. (Billups) Pippin. On November 12, 1966 she married Larry Dean Voyles, who preceded her in death on January 20, 2021.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; an infant son, David Dean Voyles, two brothers, Virgil Dean Pippin and Jimmie Ray Pippin; three sisters, Stella Mae Tuggle, Peggy Jean Thomas and Judy Kay Brown; two brothers-in-law, Bill Tuggle and Bobby Buck; and one sister-in-law, Colleen Pippin; and her in-laws, Loy and Ruby Voyles.

Surviving are two children, Lynn Edward Voyles of Columbia, Missouri, and Lisa Dawn (Steven) McHenry of La Plata; two grandchildren, Gunnar Dean McHenry and Gage David McHenry; one sister, Verna Marie Buck, and two brothers, Loren Gale (Patsy) Pippin and Glen Dale (Sherry) Pippin, all of La Plata; two brothers-in-law, Jerry (Jeannie) Thomas of La Plata, and Ronnie Brown of Linwood, Kansas; two sisters-in-law, Karen (Glenn) Wood and Debbie (Gary) Simmons, both of La Plata; one aunt, Alma Pope of Marceline, Missouri; along with many cousins, nieces and nephews that she held dearly to her heart.

Cora received her education in the La Plata schools and was a lifelong resident of the community. She was employed as inventory control and accounts payable for J. Burdman Auto Parts warehouse that serviced 31 stores for 21 years, and later accounts representative for Bank of Kirksville, retiring in 2013. She always had a host of friends at her workplaces, many of which turned into lifelong friendships.

Over the years, she and Larry enjoyed dancing, camping and being around their large families. She also enjoyed attending school sporting events and was an avid La Plata Bulldog fan.

In early childhood she joined the La Plata Baptist Church and remained true to her faith throughout her life. She was also a member of Xi Kappa Delta Chapter, Beta Sigma Phi and Reynolds-Martin Post 282, American Legion Auxiliary of La Plata.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2023. at the First Baptist Church in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery, La Plata, Missouri.

Visitation will be Monday, July 24, 2023 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Family Life Center of the First Baptist Church.

Memorials in memory of Cora may be made to the First Baptist Church of La Plata or Hospice of Northeast Missouri. They may be left at or mailed to Travis Funeral Chapel 125 S. Church St., La Plata, Missouri 63549.
