Holly Beth Bugh, 38, of Merriam, Kansas passed away on August 25, 2022 surrounded by loved ones, after a difficult battle with breast cancer.

Holly was born on October 20, 1983 to Dennis and Karen Bugh at Chanute Air Force Base, Rantoul, Illinois. She had an Air Force “military brat” upbringing in her early years before settling into civilian life in Missouri. She graduated from the La Plata High School in 2002 and completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree (Studio Art) at the University of Central Missouri at Warrensburg in 2007.

She loved working with and helping children in recovery and healing so after graduation she worked in several occupations in the Kansas City Metro area with most recently the Johnson County Public Library System and as an Art Therapist.

Holly is survived by her parents, her brother Joshua of Kirksville, Missouri and her brother Jared and wife Courtney, niece Lily and nephew James of La Plata. She is also survived by her maternal grandmother, Lily Williams of Ewing, Missouri along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and good supporting friends, David, Amanda, Amory, KG, Topher, and Sally.

She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Albert and Ruby Bugh, of Lewistown, Missouri and her maternal grandfather, George Williams of Steffenville, Missouri.

Holly was baptized and is a member of the La Plata Christian Church

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in La Plata, Missouri. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 am prior to the service. A luncheon for family and friends, provided by the La Plata First Baptist Church and the La Plata Christian Church, will follow the service in the Family Life Center.

Inurnment will be in the La Plata Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested expressions of sympathy be made to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation or the La Plata First Baptist Church Memorial Fund. They may be mailed to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., La Plata, MO 63549.
