Wanda L. Burgess, age 95 of Atlanta, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, Missouri.

Born January 4, 1927 in Barnsville, Missouri, the daughter of Linwood and Viola (Emmons) Butler. On September 16, 1945 in Macon, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Calvin Burgess who preceded her in death on October 22, 2015.

Also preceding her in death are her parents; two grandchildren, Brandi and Dakotah McQuay; and one sister, Inez Sears.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Sonya and Charles Moore of Tucson, Arizona, Melodee and Jim Nelson of Atlanta, Missouri, and Lisa and Randy McQuay of Atlanta, Missouri; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Debbie Burgess of Atlanta, Missouri; 12 grandchildren, Lyn Raquel (Adkins) Cooley, Heather Leann (Adkins) Volpe (Jon), Amy Regina (Adkins) Haymore (Andre), Kimberly Ann (Nelson) Basler, Mandi Dawn (Nelson) Stark (Mark), Jamee Lynn (Nelson) Beach (Chris), Franni Lee (Nelson) Smith (Jared), Dustin Randall McQuay, Sommer LeAnn (McQuay) Shannon (Isacson), Christine Ione (Bildner) Dakotah (McQuay), Taran Elyse (Burgess) Alex Murphy, and Colin Rhane Burgess; 26 great grandchildren, Regan Wm. Cooley, Ryan Thomas (Hannah) Cooley, Rylee Lyn Cooley, Kaylie Ann Volpe, Trevor James Volpe, Addyson Lyn Haymore, Aeden Lee Haymore, Deric Basler (Natalie), Codee Basler, Mackenly Starks, Maddex Starks, Gabriel Bowen, Gannon Bowen, Gavric Bowen, Bexlee Beach, Laetyn Beach, Tate Beach, Amarra Nelson, Gunner Smith, Tristin Randall McQuay, Kennon Drew Isaacson, Hunter Quay Isaacson, Jaxtyn Lee Issaacson, Makayla Iona McQuay, Hadley Annalise McQuay, and Imogene Eileen Murphy; and 3 great-great-grandchildren, Parker Lyn Cooley, Stella Marie Basler, and Nelson Wayne Basler.

Wanda lived most all of her life in the Atlanta community. She was a graduate of Atlanta High School and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Atlanta. She enjoyed singing, gardening, and going to all the ballgames. Wanda loved her home and spending time with her family.

A brief funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2022 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri followed by a 11:00 a.m. graveside service at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, east of Atlanta, Missouri.

Memorials in memory of Wanda may be made to Mt. Tabor Cemetery. They may be sent to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., La Plata, MO 63549.
