Stephanie Leigh Biggs-Harris

July 25, 1966 - October 6, 2022

Stephanie Leigh Biggs-Harris of Shawnee, Kansas passed away from complications of a double liver and kidney transplant on October 6, 2022 at age 56. Born July 25, 1966 in Kirksville, MO, Stephanie was the daughter of Bob and Lodena Biggs. She was raised in La Plata, MO and graduated from the LHS class of 1984.

The one love of Stephanie’s life was her 20-year-old son Zane Harris. Zane lived at home with Stephanie and was her primary caregiver for the past three years. He spent countless hours taking her to medical appointments, surgical procedures and taking care of her in the home. She always had a big smile on her face even though she was dealing with end-stage liver disease. Her positive outlook on life was contagious.

In addition to being a devoted mother, Stephanie was a loving daughter, sister, aunt and granddaughter. Stephanie leaves behind her mother, Lodena Biggs of Lenexa, KS; sister and brother-in law, Alicia (Biggs) and Brian Nentwig and nieces Paige and Emma Nentwig, all of Shawnee, KS; and Grandmother Virginia Biggs of La Plata, MO.

Stephanie was preceded in death by her father Bob Biggs, sister Mandy Biggs, Grandfather Harold Biggs and Grandmother Leola Schneider all of La Plata, MO.

Stephanie worked for many years in the Communications industry working for Verizon and Sprint. Her most recent title was Executive Assistant for UnitedLex, a firm for legal consulting. She was a devoted employee, and her team has supported Stephanie throughout her illness which started in 2020.

On July 2, 2022, Stephanie was called to KU Medical Center in Kansas City, KS for a double liver and kidney transplant. Stephanie experienced many complications following her surgery that ultimately claimed her life. She knew the risks of such a complex surgery but was always optimistic that she would come out on the other side with a new lease on life. Her ultimate goal was to travel with her sister’s family, her mother and Zane to Florida to sit in the sunshine on the beach.

Stephanie your bright smile, twinkling eyes, and mischievous sense of humor will be missed.

Visitation will be at 10:00 am, Tuesday, October 11, 2022 with the funeral service to follow at 11:00 am

Stephanie and I worked together for years at Cellular One. My oldest and her son Zane were just months apart. She was always talking about him and so proud of him. She will be missed.

I first met Stephanie when my son was two months old and she was his daycare teacher at Top Flight Kids. From that point on, she was a part of our family. She loved my three children very much. Stephanie and I eventually worked together as Sprint. I will miss the conversations that we shared along with her smile and humor. Thankful for our 28 years of friendship. Peace and comfort to the family as they remember Stephanie.
