Ralph A. Laird

Ralph A. Laird, age 73 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at his home.
Born January 8, 1948 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Max and Grace (Bragg) Laird. On May 21, 1966 in Brashear, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Kathaleen “Kate” Davidson who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Michael (Tami) Laird of Bevier, Missouri and Travis Laird of La Plata, Missouri; and one sister, Judy Coy of La Plata, Missouri.
His parents and two brothers, Fred and Harry Paul Laird preceded him in death.
Ralph was a 1965 graduate of Brashear High School. He served in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970 in Germany and Vietnam. He worked several years at the Chevrolet garage in Kirksville before going into business for himself, running a bulldozer.
In 2011, for health reasons, he sold his equipment and later worked for Donnie Yantis. Ralph was a “Caterpillar Man” and a very respected operator. He was an avid coon hunter from his youth until later in life.
Memorial services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Terry Hunsaker. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
