Gerald Lovingier, age 82 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2018 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri surrounded by loved ones.
Born January 23, 1936 in La Plata, Missouri to Emery and Florence (Wenger) Lovingier. On May 24, 1958 in La Plata he was united in marriage to Dora Elsea who survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Jerry (Crystal) Lovingier of Bevier, Missouri, Larry Lovingier of La Plata, Missouri, and Billy (Cindy) Lovingier of El Paso, Arkansas; one daughter, Jody Lloyd of Hallsville, Missouri; and was a proud grandpa of 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
His parents; three brothers, Lloyd, Dean, and Gene Lovingier; one daughter-in-law, Karen Lovingier; and two great grandchildren in infancy preceded him in death.
Gerald was a 1955 graduate of La Plata High School. He was the owner of Lovingier’s MFA Station in La Plata for many years. He also served his community as Chief of Police and Mayor. He ended his career driving a truck for J. B. Hunt Transport where he was awarded the prestigious Million Mile Award. Gerald was a member of the First Baptist Church in La Plata.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 10, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in La Plata. Inurnment will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, November 9, 2018 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri.
