Martaun L. Ownbey, age 61 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2016 at her home.

Born July 21, 1955 in Mexico, Missouri, the daughter of Richard Joseph and Maxine Marie (Potts) Ochs. On November 20, 1982 she was united in marriage to Thomas E. Ownbey who survives.

Also surviving is one daughter and son-in-law, Beth and Matthew Johnson of Bethel, Missouri; eight grandchildren, Alivia, Anthony, Gage, Shane, Kalissa, Zeta, Orion, and Asher; and three sisters, Karin Hodgson and husband, Larry of Mt. Carmel, Illinois, Connie Bredensteiner of St. Charles, Missouri, and Peggy Williams and husband, Rick of Big Canoe, Georgia.

Her parents and brother-in-law, Tom Bredensteiner preceded her in death.

Martaun was a graduate of Duchesne High School in St. Louis, Missouri. She graduated from Northeast Missouri State University with a B.S. in Sociology, after graduation she stayed to live in Macon County. Martaun had a passion for helping people especially her family. Her jobs in social work allowed her to do that, at the time of her death she was employed by the State of Missouri Senior Services as a caseworker. She was a member of Mary Immaculate Catholic Church. Martaun lived most all of her adult life in Macon County, Missouri.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Tom Dombrowski.

Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Sallee, Keith Sallee, Kent
Sallee, Rodney Bond, Rick Williams, Brett Bredensteiner.

Visitation will be one-hour before the service starting at 10:00 a.m.

Memorials in memory of Martaun L. Ownbey may be made to the Martaun L. Ownbey Memorial Fund. They may be sent to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., La Plata, Missouri 63549.

Love to Tom, Beth and family, hard to believe Martaun was called home. I'm sure Mom & Pop and Tom B. were waiting for her. May her soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed rest in Peace. Amen.

Martaun Ownbey., a great friend and truly inspirational woman. Martaun was a truly kind and giving person. She never failed to help anyone that was in need. She will be greatly missed by many. My thoughts and prayers for the family, friends, and every person who was blessed to know her.
