Edward Gail Wood

Edward Gail Wood, age 62 of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday, March 4, 2016 at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans’ Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Born October 11, 1953 in Kirksville, Missouri, he was the son of Carl and Buna (Sallee) Wood.
Surviving are four daughters, Stacy Ward of Kirksville, Missouri, Danielle Edwards and husband Jeremy of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Cassie Summers and husband Tell of Omaha, Nebraska, and Amber Couch and husband Drew of Kirksville, Missouri; one brother, Dale Wood and wife Vickie of Jacksonville, Missouri; two sisters, Paula Fast and husband Tony of Hurricane, Utah and Lois Melson and husband Cecil of Columbia, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Bridget Walls, Brianne Walls, Natalie Edwards, Jeremiah Edwards, Stephanie Holder, Hannah Roberts, Austin Roberts, Cash Summers, Kaylee Summers, and Braleigh Couch; and several nieces and nephews.
Edward served in the United States Navy. He had been a truck driver, farm hand and had trained horses at various stables.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dean, Butch, and Jerry Wood; and three sisters, Joyce Smith, Joann and Nona Wood.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in the Yarrow Cemetery in Yarrow, Missouri.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 9, 2016 with the family receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri.
