Travis Funeral Chapel

Stella Mae Tuggle, age 84 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

Born October 26, 1929 in Whitham, Missouri, she was the daughter of Robert E. and Eva M. (Billups) Pippin. On February 17, 1951 in La Plata, Missouri, she married Billy Tuggle who preceded her in death on November 7, 2005.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; two sons, Tom and Willie Tuggle; one grandson, Derek Tuggle; one brother, Jimmy Pippin; two sisters, Judy Brown and Peggy Thomas; and two brothers-in-law, Bobby Buck and Louie Vitali.

Surviving is one son, J.R. Tuggle and wife Molly of La Plata; two daughters, Susie Tuggle and Lindsey Evans of La Plata and Janet Tuggle of La Plata; three brothers, Virgil Pippin and wife Colleen of Elmer, Missouri, Glen Pippin and wife Sherry of La Plata, and Loren Pippin and wife Patsey of La Plata; two sisters, Verna Buck of La Plata and Cora Voyles and husband Larry of La Plata; seven grandchildren, Harry Tuggle, Ryan Tuggle and wife Toni, Rodney Tuggle, Lisa McDow and husband Kris, Cassie Robinson and husband Josh, Greg Tuggle and Laura Tuggle; ten great grandchildren, Kalie Lene, Madisyn, Hunter, Haylea and Ella Tuggle, Haygan and Alivia Robinson, Roxie McDow, Dallas Smith, and Lawren; two daughters-in-law, Barbara and Mary Tuggle both of La Plata; two brothers-in-law, Ronnie Brown of Linwood, Kansas and Jerry Thomas of La Plata; one sister-in-law, Sue Vitali of Galesburg, Illinois; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Stella lived most of her life in La Plata where she was a 1949 graduate of La Plata High School. She was employed at Hollister Inc. in Kirksville, Missouri for several years, and was a member of the La Plata Baptist Church. Stella enjoyed quilting, watching baseball, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the La Plata Baptist Church. Officiating will be Billy Pippin. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harry Tuggle, Rodney Tuggle, Greg Tuggle, Ryan Tuggle, J.R. Tuggle, and Lindsey Evans.

Visitation will be Friday, May 30, 2014 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata.
