Marjorie J. Mossbarger, age 96 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the La Plata Nursing Home.

Born February 15, 1920 in Macon County, Missouri, the daughter of Earl and Pearl (Sullivan) Pyle. On June 22, 1939 she was united in marriage to Robert Mossbarger who preceded her in death on August 7, 1990.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; step-mother, Maude Smith Pyle; one daughter and son-in-law, Phylis and Dale Beagley; seven sisters, Blanche Helton, Wanda Byrn, Thelma Lacer, Gladys Phipps, Dorothy Berry, Alice Slaughter, and Joyce Walgren; and one grandson, Jeffrey Beagley.

Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Robert Morrison of Grandview, Missouri, Karen and Ron Bragg of La Plata, Missouri, and Kathy and Paul Perry of La Plata, Missouri; one brother, Clifford Smith of Peck, Idaho; two sisters, Alma Amidei of Bevier, Missouri and Ruth Hawkins of the state of California; eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.

Marjorie lived all of her life in Macon County. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and, writing poetry. Marjorie loved spending time with her family. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Church of God.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2016 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Lori Landon. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, northwest of Gifford, Missouri.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 3, 2016 with the family receiving friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel.

Memorials in memory of Marjorie J. Mossbarger may be made to Mt. Carmel Cemetery Association or to La Plata Nursing Home’s Activity Department. They may be sent to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., La Plata, Missouri 63549.
