Tonya Lynn Wood

Tonya Lynn Wood, age 57, of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
Born October 2, 1968, in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Linden “Buster” and Janet (Young) Wood.
Surviving are two siblings, Tim (Shelley) Wood of La Plata, Missouri and Terri (Dustin Brown) Wood of Pittsfield, Illinois; one aunt, Lodena Biggs of Lenexa, Kansas; her best friend, Sheri Turner of Brashear, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, and special students.
Her parents and brother-in-law, Chris McLean preceded her in death.
Tonya was a lifelong resident in LaPlata, MO, but she also called Brashear MO her community as well. She loved hanging out with her friends. She enjoyed supporting both the Bulldogs and Tigers throughout her adult years, especially watching Summer, Justin, Pieper, Cameron, and Izzy, and many others she thought as "her kiddos", play sports; she was known to everyone as Aunt Tonya. You could be sure that she was the one behind the camera at any sporting event, as she loved taking pictures and sharing them with everyone. She loved her pups Wrigley and Barkley. Mostly she loved her family and being with them. Aunt Tonya and Grandma Janet are back together again watching the games from afar.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the La Plata Baptist Church in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, March 20, 2026, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the La Plata Baptist Church.
