Geraldine Gash, 97, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 29, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Born November 1, 1928, in Nickellton, Missouri, the daughter of Leland Stanford and Blanche (Redmon) Collins. On February 27, 1948, in Kirksville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Donald Lee Gash who preceded her in death on August 16, 2017.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; stepfather, Claud Perry; and two brothers, Ronnie Perry and Leland Collins.

Surviving are three sons, Gerald (Kathy) Gash of Cave Creek, Arizona, Murril (Allison) Gash of Danville, California, and Steven (Lisa) Gash of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; two brothers, Gayle Perry and Paul (Kathy) Perry of La Plata, Missouri; two sisters, Judy (Leon) Gregory of La Plata, Missouri and Betty Perry of Diamond Head, Mississippi; five grandchildren and their families, Adam, Jennifer and Mason Gash, Chris, Stacy, Charlotte, Gunnar and Beck Gash, Ryan, Sarah, Lochlan and Hollan Gash, Makenzie and Drew Nelson, and Haley Jayne Gash.

Geri was a 1946 graduate of La Plata High School. Her first work experience was teaching country school near La Plata where she traveled by horseback on her horse named Ike. During her lifetime career she held many administrative professional positions. Geri’s joys in life were traveling with Don, visiting family and friends. The title she treasured most was the wife of Don and mother of three sons. She was a woman of faith and believed Jesus Christ as our Savior, passing on her faith teaching children in Bible Study.

Geri was a beautiful lady, inside and out, with a smile and a hug for everyone. She gave her family and friends her love, support and encourage. She will be truly missed.

Visitation will be Tuesday, February 3, 2026, with the family receiving friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.
