Leland Collins, age 94, of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2025, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

Born September 11, 1930, in Atlanta, Missouri, the son of Leland S. and Blanche (Redmon) Collins. On November 21, 1953, in Croydon, Pennsylvania, he was united in marriage to Alberta Krause who preceded him in death on December 9, 2014.

Also preceding him in death were his parents; stepfather, Claud Perry; and one brother, Ronnie Perry.

Surviving are two children, Leland D. (Joann) Collins of Laurel Springs, New Jersey and Judithann (Joseph) Romanski of Newtown, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Gianna, Bianca, Joseph Jr., Jared, and Janeen; four great grandchildren, Fiadh, Paul, Jared Jr., and Carsen; two brothers, Paul (Kathy) Perry and Gayle Perry, both of La Plata, Missouri; three sisters, Geraldine Gash of Raytown, Missouri, Judy (Leon) Gregory of La Plata, Missouri, and Betty Perry of Diamond Head, Mississippi; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins,

Leland was a 1948 graduate of La Plata High School. He served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1954. He owned and operated Collins Furniture and later the Collins Barber Shop in La Plata. Leland was a member of the La Plata American Legion, La Plata Masonic Lodge, the Loyal Order of Moose in Kirksville, Missouri, and the La Plata Christian Church. Leland loved spending time and visiting with friends and family.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Graveside services with full military honors will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.
