James “Jim” William Slagle, age 50, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

Born August 14, 1974, in Brighton, Colorado, the son of Milford and Susan (Wright) Slagle Jr.
On April 25, 2000, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, he was united in marriage to Shelley (Gonzales) Slagle who survives.

Also surviving is his mother, Susan Brokaw of La Plata, Missouri; one daughter, Crystal (Kealii) Hauhio of Westminster, Colorado; two brothers, Robert (Amanda) Wright of Clyde, Kansas and Levy (Melissa) Slagle of Brighton, Colorado; one sister, Sherrie (Dwight) Lenox II or Andover, Kansas; four grandchildren, Evante, Lluvy, Mateo, and Zayden; and three brothers-in-law, Martin Gonzales of Atlanta, Missouri; Rod and Randy Gonzales of Ava, Missouri

His father, Milford Slagle Jr; stepfather, Gerald Brokaw; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don Gonzales and Karen Lane; and one brother-in-law, Danny Gonzales, preceded him in death.

Jim was a 1992 graduate of Prairie High School in New Raymer, Colorado and attended the Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts in Boulder, Colorado. Jim was a member of the Chapel of the Plains in Stoneham, Colorado. Jim was baptized by Pastor Gary Meadows in 2010. He moved to Missouri from Denver, Colorado in 2021. Jim enjoyed working as a chauffeur, arts and crafts, making unique gifts for his family, cooking, and spending time with his family. Don would say he was a “Professional”. He also loved spending time with his dog Sancho.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri.
