Carol Arlene Hays, age 87, of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.
Born April 23, 1938, near Elmer, Missouri, the daughter of Donald Arthur and Venita Irene (Webber) Pyle. On June 3, 1956, in Gifford, Missouri, she was united in marriage to James Hays who preceded her in death on November 10, 1995.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and brother, Gary Pyle.
Surviving are two children, Donald (Lori) Hays of Baileyville, Illinois and Debbie (David) Raleigh of Ewing, Missouri; five grandchildren, Kelly Champ, Jennifer Shadle, Aaron Hays, Chance and Alexander Raleigh; four great grandchildren, Claira, Emmitt, Hadden, and Lydia; and one sister-in-law, Linda Pyle of the state of Ohio.
Carol was a 1956 graduate of La Plata High School and later worked as a dental assistant. She had been a member of Atalpal, Garden, and Red Hat Clubs. She had served on the La Plata Public Library board and attended the La Plata Christian Church.
Carol enjoyed traveling, playing golf and cards, and loved spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 22, 2025, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
