Virginia Louise Biggs
June 17, 1920 - January 16, 2025
Virginia Louise (Daniels) Biggs, age 104, left this earth and began her trip to Heaven on Thursday, January 16, 2025.
Born June 17, 1920, in Pure Air, Missouri, the daughter of Lon and Artie May (Bailey) Daniels. On June 23, 1937, she was united in marriage to Harold M. Biggs who preceded her in death on September 28, 2006.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter in infancy, Farol; three sons, Larry, in infancy, Gary and Bobby Lee Biggs; one sister, Fern Darr; one brother, Eugene Daniels; and three grandchildren.
Surviving is one daughter, Carol (Richard) Pemberton; two daughters-in-law, Margaret Biggs and Lodena Biggs; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Harold and Virginia moved to La Plata in January of 1941. They started their first business of the Biggs enterprises, Biggs Hatchery, on the north side of the square. Virginia kept the books and worked in all the business’s she and Harold established.
As most women of her generation, she was active in all parts of her children’s lives. Virginia was also active in the La Plata Christian Church, a 50-year member of P.E.O., and the Eastern Star. She was the first president of the woman’s auxiliary of the Missouri Poultry Improvement Association.
Virginia spent 49 winters in Arizona and remained in her home in La Plata until she was 100 years old.
The family greatly appreciates the loving care given to her by Big Bend Retreat in Slater, Missouri.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, January 22, 2025, at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in La Plata Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
