John Lavern Gladbach

John Lavern Gladbach, 69, of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Monday, September 2, 2024 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Born June 7, 1955, in Hinsdale, Illinois, the son of Walter and Wanda (Hunt) Gladbach. On June 12, 1976, in Kirksville, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Sharon Sanford who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Christopher Gladbach of La Plata, Missouri and Jeremy Gladbach of Hannibal, Missouri; one daughter, Sonya (John) Kuruda of Columbia, Missouri; two brothers, James (Brenda) Gladbach of La Plata, Missouri and Alvin (Danette) Gladbach of Bevier, Missouri; three sisters, Cheryl (Bob) Howard of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Christeen Cresswell of Excelsior Springs, and Norine (Brad) Eitel of La Plata, Missouri; three grandchildren, Jason (Jessica) Campbell, Angela (Thomas) Sneed, and Charley Wood; four great grandchildren, Delilah, Reymus, Olivia, and Ernie; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
His parents and one sister, Rita Gladbach preceded him in death.
John lived most of his life in La Plata, Missouri. He was a 1973 graduate of La Plata High School. After graduation he went to work for BNSF Railroad where he was employed for 42 years before his retirement. He was raised in the Catholic Church, having a strong faith in God and a gentle soul. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, and making things for kids. John loved spending time with his family.
