Alberta Marie Knotts

Alberta Marie Knotts, 85, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2024, at Life Care Center in Brookfield, Missouri.
Born September 12, 1938, in Appleton, Missouri, the daughter of Michael Arthur and Ella Marie (Kirkpatrick) Schultz. In 1955, she was united in marriage to Gary Knotts in Yuma, Arizona who preceded her in death on June 18, 2024.
Also preceding her in death were two children, Gary Roger Knotts Jr. and Debra Lynn Malavolti, one brother Robert Schultz, and stepfather, Wesley Clark Comer.
Surviving are two granddaughters, Jasmin Leah and Jessica Lynn Malavolti of Marceline, Missouri; one sister, Geri (Bob) Scherkenbach of SanDiego, California; two aunts, Maxine Sanders of Marysville, California and Barbara Myers of Novinger, Missouri; and three sisters-in-law, Myra Schultz of McKinney, Texas, Leta Marlene Jones of Springfield, Missouri, and Margie Kay Kittle of Gibbs, Missouri.
Alberta was a 1956, graduate of Sweet Water High School in Chulavista, California. She was the postmaster in Salisbury, Missouri for 25 years. Alberta enjoyed traveling as a genealogist going around to 48 different states and Mexico to take pictures of grave stones to be entered onto the family trees which is known as Ancestry.com. She had also created genealogy books and maps for different families. She maintained 14,000 posts on find a grave which is an expansive family history database of records and images from the world’s cemeteries. She was a fan of collecting stamps and coins.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in the east addition of the La Plata Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
