Marian Wood

June 12, 1942 - May 9, 2024

Marian Wood, age 81 of Atlanta, Missouri, left her earthly home on May 9, 2024.

The daughter of the late Rufus and Vivian Rogers from Duluth, Georgia, she was raised in the fields picking cotton.

Marian moved to Missouri in 1965, along with her late husband, La Verne Walker, her sons Dean Cash and Randy Walker and her step son, Rick Walker. Marian was a hard worker, enjoyed sewing, fishing, planting flower beds, cooking and gardening. She was a seamstress like no other; she made many wedding dresses using a newspaper as a pattern, costumes for her grandkids , and has sewn lots of clothing through her years. She could do just about anything, from knitting, crocheting, upholstering furniture – her creativity was endless. Before her final retirement, she traveled with her kids and companion, Herb Hendee, doing art/craft shows; so many fun and good memories were made.

Marian loved her children more than life, always put them first and enjoyed every visit they made. She instilled a work ethic in every single one of her kids and taught them that “nothing in life comes free”. She loved her grandkids to the moon and back. She made sure each of her children completed high school and set goals to live/see her grandchildren graduate high school as well – she made it! She was fortunate to witness her twin grandsons, Jeremy & Jamill Teter, graduate from Mizzou with top honors, the first in her family to receive college degrees. She was proud Granny, an avid MU Tiger Fan – MIZ-ZOU!

This woman was a true “matriarch” to her family. She didn’t ask for much, always settled for less and reaped the benefits of loving her family the most. Her kids loved her dearly, appreciated the values she instilled and will carry on her legacy. Her light will continue to shine in those that knew and loved her.

Marian is proceeded in death by her parents, her first born son, Dean Cash, her sister Modean, husband La Verne Walker, and 3rd husband James Wood “Woody.

She is survived by her companion, Herb, children Randy & Jenny Walker, Cindy & Scott Teter, Rory and Polly Walker – all from the Atlanta area, and step son Rick Walker from Bradenton, Florida. Grandchildren include Jeremy, Jamill & Makaila Teter, Hope & Hanna Walker, Nick, April, Dusti, Amber, Crystal, Destinee, Buddy & Amanda, brothers Barry Rogers (Francis) and Rufus Rogers (Becky), daughter-in-law, Rose Cash, along with several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
