Barbara Helen Thompson, age 63 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at her home.
Born December 26, 1960, in Kirksville, Missouri, the daughter of Osborne and Shelda (Gregory) Gentry. On July 25, 1987, in Sue City, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Neal Thompson who survives.
Also surviving are three children, Tessa Onken (Scott Gandy) of Macon, Missouri, Jatealia Mason (Jay Tarkington) of Verona, Missouri, and Karisa Thompson (Dustin Sizemore) of Brashear, Missouri; one sister, Bev Flint of Macon, Missouri; and six grandchildren, Andrew Onken, Kaleb Gandy, Shalia Winkler, Destiney Mason, Kiayana Douglas, and Zeppelin Sizemore.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Iva Carr, Ina Greenstreet, and Donna Gentry; and two granddaughters, Breanna Gandy and Angelia Veach.
Barb received her education at Knox County where she played basketball and later graduated from Kirksville High School. She enjoyed bowling, playing softball, garage sales, and spending time with her family.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 18, 2024, in the east addition of the La Plata Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, May 18, 2024, with the family receiving friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri.
