Rebecca "Becky" Jarboe Mohan

Rebecca “Becky” Jarboe Mohan, age 84, passed away from this life on Monday, January 22, 2024 at her home in La Plata, Missouri.
Becky was born on January 30, 1939 to Joseph R. and Margaret “Mardy” Buckman Jarboe in St. Louis, Missouri. On October 27, 1962 she was united in marriage to Thomas “Tom” Mohan who survives. Becky and Tom celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in October.
Also surviving are five children, Peggy Mohan of La Plata, Missouri, Tom (Nancy) Mohan of San Diego, California, Mandy Herleth of Kirksville, Missouri, Bridget (Robert) Hayden of Fulton and Michael (Marla) Mohan of Arnold, Missouri. ; eight grandchildren Mason and Alex Herleth, Katherine (Brandon) Gregory, Kaleb Hayden, Luke and Lucy Mohan, Katie (JC) Gutierez and Sara Smith; six great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Peggy Sarich of St. Louis, Missouri and numerous nieces and nephews.
Becky was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Mardy Jarboe and her father and mother in law, Tom and Mary Kate Mohan, and several aunts, uncles and beloved cousins.
Becky was a graduate of Incarnate Word Academy in St. Louis and graduated from St. Louis University with a Bachelor of Nursing, where she met her future husband. Tom and Becky lived in several communities before deciding that La Plata would be the perfect community to establish Mohan Drugs and raise their growing family. Becky worked many years at the La Plata Nursing Home, making lifelong friendships, and several years working in the psychology field after receiving her Master’s Degree in Community Psychology. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish in Macon and enjoyed participating in the Red Hats of Macon, Love Lake Social Group, Atalpal, a trustee on the board of the Olive Gilbreath McLorn Home, and part of a monthly book club.
After retiring Becky and Tom enjoyed traveling, making several trips to Ireland to visit Tom’s family. Becky enjoyed reading, cooking programs, the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, flowers and country life including golf cart rides with Tom. Throughout her life Becky loved her pets, stray animals knew to come to Becky’s home where they would be loved and well cared for. Most of all though Becky loved spending time with her family and enjoyed most the large family gatherings that brought together four generations.
Visitation will be Friday, January 26th from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, January 27th at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Macon, Missouri. Interment will be in the St. Mary”s Cemetery in Shelbina, Missouri.
