Harold W. Downey

Harold W. Downey Sr. “Wildman”, age 71 of Atlanta, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 26, 2023 at the Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, Missouri.
Born February 5, 1952 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Ernest O. and Elizabeth L. (Perrin) Downey Jr. On November 29, 1969 in Atlanta, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Poe who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, J.R. (Monica) Downey of Atlanta, MO and Kyle Downey of Columbia, MO; three daughters, Lisa (Rick) McKenzie of Atlanta, MO, Lori Downey of Macon, MO, and Angie (Tommy) Mulnix of Elmer, MO; one brother, Donald Downey of Macon, MO; two sisters, Elaine Hopper of Booneville, MO and Linda Stevenson of Excelsior Springs, MO; nine grandchildren, Shelby Pettig, Morgan Tipton, Kaleb Tipton, Christopher Cox, Kennedy Harpster-Thompson, Kambry Mulnix, Cody, Owen, and Nora Downey; and seven great grandchildren with one on the way.
His parents, two brothers, Richard and Ernie Downey, and one great grandson, Beckett Cox preceded him in death.
Harold lived all of his life in Atlanta. He spent many years over the road trucking. Harold enjoyed visiting with friends, music, dancing, camping, riding the Ranger, working on cars, and loved getting hugs from his grandchildren.
Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 2, 2023 at Mt. Tabor Cemetery, east of Atlanta, MO.
