Sylvia Mae Spencer, age 84 of Elmer, Missouri, passed away Friday, October 27, 2023 at her home.
Born May 27, 1939 in Elmer, Missouri, the daughter of Melvin and Mildred (Steele) Magers. On October 6, 1957 in Elmer, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Ronald Spencer who preceded her in death on July 8, 2015.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Opal Marie Seager.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Bruce and Julie Spencer of Elmer, Missouri; one daughter and son-in-law, Roxy and Byron Shafer of Valley View, Texas; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Melvin “Butch” and Elaine Magers of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Merrill and Velma Magers of Atlanta, Missouri; 9 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Sylvia lived most all of her life in the Elmer and La Plata communities. She was a 1957 graduate of Elmer High School. Sylvia owned and operated Spencer Tractor Sales from 1965 to 2002 and presently owned the Chuck Wagon Café in Elmer, Missouri.
Sylvia requested to be cremated and a memorial service to be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to her family. They may be sent to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., La Plata, MO 63549.
