Ivan Eugene Clarkson, age 87 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022 at Loch Haven Nursing Home.

Born January 5, 1935 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Ernest and Lucille (McClanahan) Clarkson. On March 24, 1956 in La Plata, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Gail Anita Mansfield who preceded him in death on June 21, 2020.

Also preceding him in death were his parents and one daughter, Karen Lovingier.

Surviving are two sons, Kenneth (Holly) Clarkson of Springfield, Missouri and Douglas (Paula) Clarkson of La Plata, Missouri; three daughters, Cathy (Rick) Lewis of LaGrange, Missouri, Linda (Gary) Jepson of Green Castle, Missouri, and Janice Clarkson of Columbia, South Carolina; two brothers, Gary (Donna) Clarkson of La Plata, Missouri and Ernest Duane (Jolene) Clarkson of Orion, Illinois; one brother-in-law, Eddie (Lois) Mansfield of Macon, Missouri; 20 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, 1 great-great-granddaughter; and nieces and nephews.

Ivan lived most all of his life in Adair County, Missouri. He was a 1953 graduate of La Plata High School and a member of the First Baptist Church in La Plata. Ivan was very involved in agriculture, farming, Clarkson Lime and Rock, custom water pumping, and custom bull dozing. Ivan and Gail were some of the founding members of the Missouri Food Bank in northeast Missouri, and were both active in the Oklahoma Indians 4-H Club.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 8, 2022 at the La Plata Baptist Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.
