Keith Edwin Wait, 92, a lifelong resident of the La Plata area, passed into Glory on the morning of April 9, 2022, at his home in Murfreesboro, TN.
He was born December 25, 1929, in the Newberg and Illinois Bend area, 6 miles west of La Plata on the Wait family farm to Teddy and Mildred Wait.
Keith had three children with his first wife, Lois Easley; Melinda (Scott) Smith of Austin, Texas, Betsy (Russ) Maxey of Murfreesboro, TN and Jon Wait of Liberty, Missouri. He was united in marriage to his second wife, Candace (Rae) Wait on December 6, 1985, and remained happily married until his death.
Keith was tender hearted, honest and kind man. He lived his life dedicated to his family and his farm of which he doubled the acreage. He had a library full of history, biology, airplanes, and science and continued to be a student his entire life. Before he lost sight in his eye, he had become a single-engine pilot. Keith took pride in his checker game. He was a member of the American Checker Federation, winning state championships in Illinois and Missouri, as well as countless other tournaments.
Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, Mary Lou Wait and one stepdaughter, Heather Livermore.
Surviving is his wife, Candy, his daughters, Melinda and Betsy, and his son, Jon, as well as six grandchildren and one great grandchild: Sami (Micah) Hull, Megan Maxey, Sydney Smith, Jett Smith, Tristan Wait, Sydney-Savannah Wait and Hadley Joy Hull, as well as too many cousins to mention of which he loved like brothers and sisters.
Rest in peace Dad – We love and miss you.
