Ione E. Brokaw, age 72 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022 at The Pines in Kirksville, Missouri, surrounded by her family.

Born January 8, 1950 in Rushford, Minnesota, the daughter of Henry and Esther (Runge) Tveten. On July 14, 1973 in Rushford, Minnesota, she was united in marriage to Junior Brokaw who survives.

Also surviving are two children, Matt (Denise) Brokaw of Osceola, Iowa and Tracy (J) Arends of Huntsville, Missouri; six grandchildren, Weston (Jackie) Brokaw, Easton and Haydon Brokaw, Kiana, Joci, and Mattie Arends; one brother, David (Kristi) Tveten of Lewiston, Minnesota; two sisters, Lois (John) Dyreson of Winona, Minnesota and Marie Volkmann of Red Wing, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents and one sister, Jeanette Peterson preceded her in death.

Ione lived most of her life in the La Plata community. She was employed at Hollister Inc. for 39 years, retiring in 2012. She was a member of the La Plata Christian Church. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, traveling, word search puzzles, and cooking. Ione loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday, April 4, 2022 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
