Erma Lea Billings

Erma Lea Billings, age 88 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at the La Plata Nursing Home in La Plata, Missouri.
Born May 24, 1933 in Freeman, Missouri, the daughter of Julius Caesar and Erma Lorena (Rowe) Hawkins. On July 26, 1953 in La Plata, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Jay Newton Billings who preceded her in death on September 28, 1993.
Also preceding her in death were her parents and brother, J.C. Hawkins III.
Surviving are three daughters, Kathie (Bert) Chaney of Cape Coral, Florida, Teena Billings (Danny Bunch) of La Plata, Missouri, and Sheila (Jeff) Burton of Jefferson City, Missouri; three grandchildren, Austin (Brittany) Meade, Eden Eitel, and Bailey (Cody) Blackford; ten great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Betty Hawkins of Mexia, Texas and Bev (Bob) Johnson of La Plata, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Erma Lea lived most all of her life in La Plata. She was a 1951 graduate of La Plata High School and a member of the Community Presbyterian Church in La Plata. She was employed at Hollister Inc. for several years until her retirement. Erma Lea enjoyed cooking, sewing, crafts, watching her grandchildren, going to the kids’ sporting events, and her little dog Cocoa. Her family was her whole life.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the La Plata Cemetery in La Plata, Missouri.
