Virgil "Squeek" Dean Pippin
August 2, 1931 - December 19, 2022
Virgil “Squeek” Dean Pippin, age 91 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 19, 2022 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Born August 2, 1931 in Triplett, Missouri, the son of Robert E. and Eva (Billups) Pippin. On March 9, 1952 in La Plata, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Florence Colleen Rhoades who preceded him in death on November 9, 2017.
Also preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Nancy Haley; two sons-in-law, Jeffrey Gwinner and Baxter Haley; one daughter-in-law, Kay Pippin; three sisters, Stella Tuggle, Peggy Thomas, and Judy Brown; one brother, Jimmy Pippin; and three brothers-in-law, Bill Tuggle, Bobby Buck, and Larry Voyles.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Pippin of Atlanta, Missouri and Victor (Diana) Pippin of La Plata, Missouri; one daughter, Cindy Gwinner of Eldon, Missouri; two brothers, Glen (Sherry) Pippin and Loren (Patsy) Pippin, both of La Plata, Missouri; two sisters, Verna Buck and Cora Voyles, both of La Plata, Missouri; Brothers-in-laws Ronnie Brown and Jerry Thomas; eight grandchildren, Kim (Paul) Rodriquez, Tessa (Jeff) Parke, Jeff (Carla) Hinz, Nichole (Kevin) David, Tom (Peggy) Hinz, Dena (Kevin) Dennis, Alex Gwinner, and Aaron (Natousha) Pippin; several great and great great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Virgil served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He lived most of his life in Elmer, Missouri before moving to La Plata in 2018. He was a longtime member of the Elmer Baptist Church. Virgil was employed by Cameron, Joyce and Company for 17 years. He worked on the first interstate highway project starting in the St. Louis area, after the passage of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956. He later started Pippin Construction, working for over 40 years. Virgil loved spending time and helping his family!
Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2022 followed by a memorial service starting at 11:00 a.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri.
Inurnment will be at a later date in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Jacksonville, Missouri.
