Edmon L. Quaintance
March 28, 1932 - December 30, 2021
Edmon Lowell Quaintance, a proud veteran of the United States Army, age 89, of LaPlata, Missouri passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021 at his home.
Born March 28, 1932 in Hartlay, Iowa, the son of Lowell and Esther (Halsrud) Quaintance. October 1, 1954 he was united in marriage to Bessie Elaine Rhoads, who preceded him in death. To this union seven children were born. Edmon spent most of his life farming and working on cars in LaPlata, Missouri.
At the age of 21, Edmon enlisted in the Army. He valued this service highly and attained the rank of Private First Class. As part of his service in the Korean War he received the Korean Service Medal with 4 Bronze Service Stars, United Nations Service Medal and Nation Defense Service Medal.
Edmon is survived by his seven children. Edith Quaintance of Kirksville, Missouri; Florence Quaintance of LaPlata, Missouri; Crystal Hayes of Houston, Missouri; Regana Leckbee of Edina, Missouri; Regina (Vince) McQueen of Novinger, Missouri; Priscilla (Don) Fry of Allerton, Iowa; and Miles (Hope) Quaintance of Columbia, Missouri; thirteen grandchildren, Angel (Dan) Cook; Melissa Coffelt; Amanda Quaintance; Angela (Jeff) Courtney; Bud Hayes; Heather (Matthew) Royer; Samantha (Ty) Parrish; Ron (Scarlett) Leckbee; Stacey (Brandon) Baird; Tara Gordon; David McQueen; Kristina McQueen; Gabe (Kelsey) McQueen; several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; one sister.
Edmon was preceded in death by his parents; one brother; his wife; two grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Memorial Services, officiated by Pastor Scott McNay, will be 11:30 am Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at Travis Funeral Chapel in LaPlata, Missouri. Followed by Inurnment in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri.
