Gary Love, age 55 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Monday, December 14, 2020 at his home.

Born June 19, 1965 in Canton, Missouri, the son of Stephen and Marjorie (Dawkins) Love. On August 22, 1992 in La Plata, Missouri he was united in marriage to Dawn Nilges who preceded him in death on August 21, 2009.

Also preceding him in death are his father and sister-in-law, Michelle Nilges.

Surviving are his mother, Marjorie Love of Liberty, Missouri; companion, Donna Roberts and her son, Dakota Mahaffey; one son, Cody Love (Morgan) of Kirksville, Missouri; one daughter, Schaelinn Love (Anthony Shearon) of La Plata, Missouri; two brothers, John Love (Kay) of Independence, Missouri and Robert Love of Kansas City, Missouri; one sister, Linda Crenshaw (Randy) of Kansas City, Missouri; and one granddaughter, Emersyn Love.

Gary lived most all of his life in La Plata. He was a 1984 graduate of La Plata High School and a 1987 graduate of State Technical College of Missouri in Linn, Missouri. For more than 30 years he has been employed at Macon County Road and Bridge. He was a member of Community Presbyterian Church in La Plata.

Gary enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and tinkering. He loved spending time with family and especially his granddaughter, Emersyn.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery.

Visitation will also be Wednesday with the family receiving friends from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
