K. Michael Spencer

K. Michael Spencer, age 68 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 20, 2019 at Samaritan Hospital in Macon, Missouri.
Born August 30, 1951 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of Kenneth Collins and Helen L. (Franks) Spencer.
His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving are one daughter, Rebecca Rockwood of Chicago, Illinois; one sister, Melice Spencer of Tucson, Arizona; and one nephew, Brandon Thrower.
Mike lived most of his life in the La Plata Community. He was a 1969 graduate of La Plata High School and later graduated from Truman State University with a B.S. in Agriculture. He had been employed by the Mercantile Bank of Memphis, now U.S. Bank, and later with the Community Bank of Shelbina in Clarence, Missouri until his retirement. Mike was a member of the La Plata Masonic Lodge #237 and Community Presbyterian Church in La Plata. He enjoyed going to pistol shooting competitions, hunting, fishing, gardening, and farming.
Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2019 in the New Harmony Cemetery, east of La Plata, Missouri.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 25, 2019 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to La Plata Masonic Lodge #237 or to New Harmony Cemetery. They may be sent to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., La Plata, MO 63549.
