Hazel June Lene, age 98 of Elmer, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Kirksville Manor Care in Kirksville, Missouri.
Born June 26, 1920 in Lacrosse, Missouri, the daughter of Arthur Guy and Orpha Elizabeth (Figge) Sweikert. On August 13, 1938 in Kirksville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to William Paul Lene who preceded her in death on February 25, 2006.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, John and Roy Sweikert; six sisters, Ethel, Elma Belle, Dorothy, Muriel, and Opal Fern in infancy; and one great grandson, Mike Jacobs.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, David and Linda Lene of Elmer, Missouri; one daughter, Gloria Jacobs of Kirksville, Missouri; six grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren.
Hazel lived all of her life in Macon County. She attended the Murray Rural School, and was a member of the Elmer Baptist Church. Hazel loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in Elmer Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, April 24, 2019 with the family receiving friends from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Elmer Baptist Church. They may be sent to or left at Travis Funeral Chapel, 125 S. Church St., La Plata, Missouri 63549.
