Stanley B. East, Jr., age 80, of La Plata, Mo passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018 at Center Point Medical Center in Independence, MO. Stan was born August 24, 1937 in Derby, CT, the son of Stanley B. East, Sr. and Ruth (Vedder) East. On June 1, 1957 he married Mary Katherine “Kathy” Sadler in Pleasant Hill, MO. Kathy preceded him in death on January 9, 2018.

Stan was also preceded in death by his parents and grandparents, one brother Ronald D. East in June 2017 and a daughter in law, Gayle M. East in March 2017.
Stan is survived by 3 sons, Stan M. “Rabbi” (Lynnette), Kevin R. (Tracey) all of La Plata, MO and Ronald F. “Fred” of Independence, MO. 1 sister-Ruthie Koenig(John)-Virginia, 1 sister in law-Susan East-Connecticut, 7 grandchildren-Joey Sadler (Amy), Adina East, Stephanie Carpenter (Jason), Cameron East (Liz), Lauren East, Jamie Byrd & Jason Robinson (Candy). 14 great grandchildren-Chris, Tim & Emily Sadler, Trinity East, Avery Cambron, Gwen & Violet Carpenter, Kiesha March, Gavin & Presley Miranda, Jax & Quinley Robinson and Brysen & Brynlee East. 2 great-great grandchildren Cabe & Kylynn March.

Stan graduated from High School in Shelton, CT in 1955, attended William Jewell College in Liberty, MO and graduated an ordained Minister in 1959. He then ministered at a few different churches before coming to the La Plata Christian Church in July 1964 until September 1978. Stan also was minister at Granville Christian Church for 25 years. He then went to Director of Northeast/Northcenter medical service council, instructor at KCOM, Assistant Professor, teaching CPR, EMT and Paramedic Classes to student doctors, fire and ambulance service personal as well as to high school students and staff and community organizations. Stan also held several positions in the La Plata community, where he was a member of the La Plata Fire Department for 53 years and the La Plata Masonic Lodge for 51 years.

Visitation will be July 7, 2018 at the La Plata Christian Church from 9-10:45am, with a Masonic Service and services following.

Memorials may be made to the La Plata Fire Department or La Plata Masonic Lodge and may be left at or mailed to Travis Funeral Chapel 125 S. Church St., La Plata, MO 63549.
