Iris A. Chaney

Iris A. Chaney, age 94 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017 at the La Plata Nursing Home in La Plata, Missouri.
Born February 9, 1923 in rural La Plata, the daughter of Bert and Edna (Young) Jackson. On May 20, 1942 in La Plata, she was united in marriage to Delmar Chaney who preceded her in death on July 26, 2007.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Roy and Roger Jackson; two sisters, Hazel Easley and Helen Nuhn; one son-in-law, Pete Lackey; and one great grandson, Griffin Chaney.
Surviving are 4 children and spouses, Judy and Dennis Meeker of Augusta, Georgia; Jim D. and Carolyn Chaney of Mt. Sterling, Illinois; Pat and Jack Beale of Higginsville, Missouri and Ron B. and Kathie Chaney of Cape Coral, Florida; and one brother, Dean Jackson and wife Naomi of Kansas City, Missouri; twelve grandchildren, Julie Novak (Mike), Matty Lackey, Tiffany Cascia (Glen), Thad Chaney (Heidi), Thomas Chaney (Chelsie), Erin Sinnett, Ellen Chaney, Matthew Chaney, Jon Beale (Nancy), Jamey Carlson (Chris), Jill Burgard (Ryan), and Jana Adams (Eli); twenty-four great grandchildren: Jackson, Jeffrey, and Joseph Novak; Taylor, Riley, Mitchell and Tess Cascia; Aiden, Cooper, and Sydney Chaney; Abel and Blayre Chaney; Sawyer Sinnett; Julia, Jessi, and Jack Beale; Natalie, Chloe, and Sophia Carlson; Jackson, Josiah, and Jocelyn Burgard; Juno and Janelle Adams: and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Iris lived all of her life in the La Plata community. She was a member of Atalpal and Community Presbyterian Church. For twenty years she enjoyed spending winters with Delmar in Arizona. She also enjoyed reading, playing cards, and baking pies.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday, October 29, 2017 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Terry Hunsaker. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens in Kirksville, Missouri.
Visitation will be Sunday, October 29, 2017 with the family receiving friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel.

We truly enjoyed getting to know Iris during her time in Florida. She made it clear she was proud of being married to Delmar for 65 years and proud of her children. She was a great lady.
