Shirley Elaine Self Chadwick

Shirley Elaine Self Chadwick died October 25, 2017, at Sand Rock Ridge Nursing Home, surrounded by all of her family. She was born June 1, 1934 in La Plata Missouri to Lloyd and Marie Chadwick. She graduated from La Plata High School in 1952. She met her sailor, the love of her life, Hugh Self and married him on October 31, 1952. They moved to Craig Colorado in 1956. She was an avid painter and loved to work in her flower gardens. She made beautiful wedding and specialty cakes for people up and down the valley. She even had one of her wedding cakes flown to Sacramento, California.
She is preceded in death by her husband Hugh Self, and her parents Lloyd and Marie Chadwick.
She is survived by her children, Blaine Self of Commerce City CO, Laine Self of Craig, CO, Leslie Self of Craig, CO, Diona (Mark) Barber of Craig, CO, and Stepson Bob (Lena) Mounce of Craig, CO; grandchildren Tara Lemons of Las Vegas NV, Kele (Melissa) Barber of Craig, CO Brooklyn (Nacho) Ayala of Craig, CO Deja (Justin) Craig of Grand Junction, CO, Jessie Blankenship of Grand Junction, CO, Amber (Jim) Cooper, Liam, JJ, and Galataya Mounce of Craig, CO; great grandchildren Tiana Henry, Jaya and Zoey Craig of Grand Junction Co.
Services will be in La Plata Missouri at Travis Funeral Chapel. Viewing will be Friday, November 3, 2017 from 6-8 pm and service Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 2 pm with interment to follow at the La Plata Cemetery.
She was the world's best mother and was always willing to help anyway she could. She will be greatly missed by all.
