Robert "Bob" L Burton

Robert “Bob” L. Burton, age 85 of Macon, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 3, 2016 at the Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, Missouri.
Born September 7, 1930 in Atlanta, Missouri, he was the son of Henry Olin and Lillian (Coleman) Burton. On September 11, 1955 in Kirksville, Missouri he was united in marriage to Dorothy I. Kellam who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Cinda Burton of Macon, Missouri and Charlotte Moore and husband, Danny of Macon, Missouri; one brother, Tom Burton of La Plata, Missouri; grandchildren, Melissa and Travis Cook and Janessa and Austin Gaughan; great grandchildren, Nolan Cook, Colin Cook, Nora Gaughan, and Maggie Gaughan; several nieces, nephews, and cousins, including special cousins, Ben and Nancy Coleman, Scott Coleman, Brian, Amy, and Elizabeth Coleman.
His parents, one sister, Faye Hughes and two brothers, Cleo and Kenneth Burton preceded him in death.
Bob was a 1950 graduate of Callao High School. While going to school he lived with Ruth and Albert Mathis. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War. Bob farmed most all of his life on his farm north of Callao. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bevier, Missouri. Bob enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting and school events.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2016 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor John Gorham. Burial will be in the Chariton Cemetery, north of Callao, Missouri.
Visitation will be Monday, June 6, 2016 with the family receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel.
