Cathern Ailene Dawdy

Cathern Ailene Dawdy, age 90 of Macon, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Loch Haven Nursing Home.
Born February 15, 1926 in La Plata, Missouri, she was the daughter of Uley and Lydia (Hamblen) Benjamin. On September 6, 1952 in La Plata, Missouri she was united in marriage to Charles “Buddy” Dawdy who preceded her in death on May 24, 2001.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, John and Edgar Benjamin; and one sister Marilyn.
Surviving is one son, Les Dawdy and wife Debbie of Macon, Missouri; two grandsons, Johnathon Dawdy of Kansas City, Missouri and Adam Dawdy and wife Millicent of Macon, Missouri; two great grandsons, Easton Dawdy of Kansas City, Missouri and Pace Dawdy of Macon, Missouri; and two sisters, Margaret Lowrey of Kansas City, Missouri and Arlene Owen of South Carolina.
Cathern was a 1944 graduate of La Plata High School. For several years she worked at La Plata State Bank, wrote news articles for the La Plata Home Press, as well as the Macon and Kirksville newspapers. She was a member of the First Christian Church of La Plata and of the Atalpal II Club.
Graveside services will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday, April 28, 2016 in the La Plata Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend Scott McNay.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 28, 2016 with the family receiving friends from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri.
