David A. Carter

David Arthur Carter, age 78 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Loch Haven Nursing Home in Macon, Missouri.
Born December 18, 1936 in New Florence, Missouri, he was the son of Arthur and Flossie (Dixon) Carter. In 1960 he married Vera Elsenraat and to this union three children were born. In 1987 he married Barbara (Dudley) Warren who survives.
Also surviving are five children, Brian Carter and wife Tracy of New Florence, Missouri, Laura Gilbert and husband Snooze of Montgomery City, Missouri, Jason Carter and wife Dawn of New Florence, Missouri, Connie Schrage and husband Terry of Kirksville, Missouri, and Lisa Sharp and husband Jim of Edina, Missouri; two brothers, seven sisters, 18 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
David served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1966 in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. He worked with his dad in the clay mines in New Florence and later was employed with Norfolk and Western Railroad until his retirement.
A private graveside service was held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Chariton Grove Cemetery west of La Plata, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Travis Funeral Chapel, La Plata, Missouri.
