After retiring, Marteena and her husband moved to the farm. They enjoyed farm life and traveling with their friends. After her husband passed away, Marteena continued living on the farm for over 25 years, raising cattle for over 9 years.
Marteena enjoyed music and quilting. She pieced many quilts, quilted over 100 quilts, and made and quilted many baby quilts in her lifetime.
She had resided in the La Plata Nursing Home since August 2011. She enjoyed all of the people that came to visit her.
Marteena has expressed her thanks and appreciation for everyone that has helped her or her husband in any way along with Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.
