Noel R. Crawford, age 79 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 8, 2014 at his home.

Born August 2, 1934 in Adair County, Missouri, he was the son of Ernest L. and Mary Doris (Newton) Crawford. On December 26, 1953 in Las Vegas, Nevada he married Wanda L. Billings, who survives.

Also surviving is one son, Kyle Crawford and Becky Johnson of La Plata, Missouri; two daughters, Kimbra Kelley of La Plata, Missouri and Krista Cochran and husband Pat of Mountain Home, Idaho; two sisters, Marjorie Eitel and husband Henry of Kansas City, Missouri and Marilyn Cannaday of Overland Park, Kansas; six grandchildren, Bliss and Slater Kelley, Beau and Brady Crawford, and Jeb and Grif Cochran; five great grandchildren, Hayden and Harper Cochran, Fowler and Aurelia Cochran, and Tate Crawford; and several nieces, nephews, cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Jean, Gerald, and Bob Crawford; one son-in-law, Mark Kelley; and one grandson, Blake Crawford.

Noel served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. While living in the La Plata community most all of his life, he was employed with the United States Postal Service for 33 years. He also built and remodeled many homes in the La Plata area. He was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church of La Plata. Noel enjoyed living on his farm. He was very devoted to his family and loving wife of 60 years.

Graveside services with military honors will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 11, 2014 in the La Plata Cemetery. Officiating will be Reverend John Becker.

It was Noel’s wishes to be cremated. There will be no visitation.
