Hazel V. Helton

Hazel V. Helton, age 82 of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 5, 2014 at her home.
Born September 5, 1931 near Galt, Missouri, she was the daughter of Ray and Fern (Neff) Scott. On April 14, 1951 in Trenton, Missouri she married Eugene E. Helton who preceded her in death on September 6, 1993.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Delilah Scott; and two brothers, Kenneth and George Scott.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Helton and wife Bonnie of Brookfield, Missouri and Neal Helton of La Plata, Missouri; one sister, Mary Scott of Kirksville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Lucas Helton, Amanda Maize, and Christopher Bailey; and seven great grandchildren.
Hazel lived most of her life in the Elmer and La Plata communities. She was employed at the La Plata Nursing Home for many years. Hazel enjoyed dancing and spending time with friends and family.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2014 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. There will be no visitation.
