Donna Jean Agee
September 3, 1936 - February 11, 2014
Donna Jean (Hawkins) Agee, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, peacefully went to her Heavenly Father on February 11, 2014 at 5:30am at her home in Topeka.
Donna was born on September 3, 1936 to Helen and Hugh Hawkins. She is survived by her husband of 59 years and two months, Wayne Agee, Topeka and children Bruce (Tiffany) Agee of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, Brenda (Larry) O’Hara of Topeka, and Robert (Teresa) Agee of Topeka. She is also survived by her grandchildren Justin Agee, Amber Timour, Jon-Wesley O’Hara, Jennifer Langley, Nicholas O’Hara, Sarah Petty, Julie Agee, Jamie Schwinck, Mathieu Agee and Bryson Agee. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Ericka Agee. She is also survived by several great grandchildren. Other survivors include her sister, Martha Rhein (Jon) of Columbia, Missouri and her brother Glen Hawkins (Janel) of Valley Center, Kansas as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Donna was an active member of eleven Christian Churches (DOC). She served as Deacon, women’s group leader and Sunday school teacher. She gave praise and thanks to God for everything. Her infectious smile and laughter was an inspiration to all she came in contact with, especially the numerous health care providers at the clinics over the past three years while facing cancer treatments.
Donna was very proud of her children and the accomplishments in their lives. Grandchildren were precious and great grandchildren stole her heart. Her home decorations were years ahead of the times. She was also a talented artist and florist and enjoyed spending time with her family in Hawaii.
A funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 14 at First Christian Church, 1880 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66604. An additional service under the direction of Travis Funeral Chapel will take place at 1:00 pm Monday, February 17, 2014 at La Plata Christian Church in La Plata, Missouri with burial to follow in La Plata Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 to 12:00 at the Church.
