Iris Jean Gramling, age 74, of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri. She was born February 21, 1940 in Yarrow, Missouri to Levi and Ruby (Sullivan) Hays. On January 8, 1961 in La Plata, Missouri she married Sharon Gramling who survives.

Also surviving are two daughters; Cindy Tuggle and Monti Ross of La Plata, Missouri, and Cheri Spencer and husband Mike of Virginia Beach, Virginia; one sister Wava McHenry and husband Ronnie of La Plata, Missouri; one grandson Rodney Tuggle of Kansas City, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother in infancy, one grandson Derek Tuggle and one uncle Larry Sullivan.

Iris lived most of her life in Adair and Macon Counties. She was a graduate of La Plata High School and was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church. She worked as a receptionist and dental assistant for many years in La Plata and Kirksville. Iris enjoyed being at home canning, and taking care of animals, especially her dog.

Graveside services will be Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 2:00 PM in the La Plata Cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. John Becker. Pallbearers will be Steven McHenry, Donnie McHenry, Danny Gramling, Jeff Gramling, Mike Erwin, and Rodney Tuggle. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Spencer, Monti Ross, and J.R. Tuggle.
