Dorothy V. Berry

Dorothy V. Berry, age 96 of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
Born February 24, 1917 in Macon County, Missouri, the daughter of Earl and Pearl (Sullivan) Pyle. On June 6, 1936 in Milan, Missouri she married Earl Berry who preceded her in death on December 6, 1997.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; step-mother, Maude (Smith) Pyle; five sisters, Blanche Helton, Wanda Byrn, Thelma Lacer, Joyce Walgren, and Gladys Phipps; one sister-in-law, Margaret Smith; and six brothers-in-law, Robert Mossbarger, Jimmie Byrn, Milford Helton, Howard Slaughter, Tom Lacer, and Paul Phipps.
Surviving are four sisters, Marjorie Mossbarger of La Plata, Missouri, Alice Slaughter of Kirksville, Missouri, Alma Amidei and husband Bruno of Bevier, Missouri, and Ruth Hawkins and husband Willard of Evans, Colorado; one brother, Clifford Smith of Peck, Idaho; and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy lived most all of her life in Macon County, moving from the farm to La Plata in 1972. She was a member of Church of God. She wrote and memorized poetry. Dorothy loved family and children.
Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2013 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 3, 2013 with the family receiving friends from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel.
