Travis Funeral Chapel

Betty R. Forbes, age 87 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 12, 2013 at the La Plata Nursing Home.

Born May 8, 1926 in Linn County, Missouri, she was the daughter of Wayne and Lillian (Kemper) Flynn. On December 27, 1944 in Kansas City, Kansas, she married Billie K. Forbes who preceded her in death on November 4, 1997.

Also preceding her in death were her parents and one brother, Larry Flynn.

Surviving are four sisters-in-law, Phyllis Flynn, Pearl Olinger, Emma Lee Forbes, and Lilah Forbes all of Brookfield, Missouri and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was a graduate of Linneus High School. Her husband’s career in education gave her the opportunity to live in the communities of Linneus, Green City, Stanberry, Spickard, and La Plata. She worked for many years at the A.S.C.S. offices in Linn and Adair counties. Betty attended the La Plata United Methodist Church. She was a member of the United Methodist Women, Garden Club, and Atalpal II.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 16, 2013 at Travis Funeral Chapel, La Plata, Missouri. Burial will be in the Parklawn Memorial Gardens in Brookfield, Missouri.

Visitation will be Friday, August 16, 2013 with the family receiving friends from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Travis Funeral Chapel.
