Lucile Gladys Bissey, age 84 of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Friday, August 31, 2012 at the La Plata Nursing Home in La Plata, Missouri.

Born December 30, 1927 in Gallatin, Missouri, she was the daughter of Shelby and Vera (Stauffer) Smith. On June 10, 1945 in Florence, Colorado, she married Donald L. Bissey who preceded her in death on June 24, 2010.

Also preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Wayne Bissey; one great granddaughter, Ella Puntenney; one brother, Ivan Smith; and four sisters, Mildred Ricky, Grace Butler, Alice Defoor, and Aletha Tague.

Surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth and Debbie Bissey of Labadie, Missouri, Melvin and Nancy Bissey of Kirksville, Missouri, and Ron and Pam Bissey of Moberly, Missouri; two daughters, Marilyn Green and husband John of La Plata, Missouri and Brenda Bissey of Kirksville, Missouri; one brother, Alvan Smith of Gallatin, Missouri; four sisters, Martha Vickery of Southside, Alabama, Evelyn Dopheide of Gainesville, Florida, Margaret McDonald of Canon City, Colorado, and Verna Dean Summers of Colorado Springs, Colorado; nine grandchildren, Greg Bissey, Jennifer Puntenney, Josh Bissey, Erin Graham, Clint and Vince Bissey, Heath Green, Amanda Springer, and Nicole Bissey; and thirteen great grandchildren.

Lucile moved to La Plata in 1952 and then moved to Kirksville in 2005. She retired from Hollisters, Inc. after 30 years of service. She was a faithful member of the First Church Of God in Kirksville. Lucile enjoyed reading and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at the Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Officiating will be Pastor Scott Grogg. Music will be provided by John Gorham and Carolyn Turner. Musical selections will be “Whispering Hope” and “Sheltered In The Arms Of God”.

Burial will be in the La Plata Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Heath Green, Clint Bissey, Vince Bissey, Josh Bissey, Greg Bissey, John Graham, Bryce Puntenney, and David Springer.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 4, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the chapel.
